In his speech at the opening session of the International Conference on Implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) the Secretary General of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) urged OIC members states to examine and adopt the CRC. Current Organization OIC commitments fall short in providing care and protection for children in the Muslim world.   The Muslim world has almost a quarter of the world’s 600 million children. Approximately four and a half million children under five years of age die every year due to disease and malnutrition.
