Kenya pushes nets to fight malaria

The Kenyan government has launched a national malaria campaign to emphasize the importance of the consistent use of treated mosquito bed nets during all seasons.  The campaign is being sponsored by Population Services International, in collaboration with the World Health Organization and other medical research companies.

Currently, though 56 percent of Kenyans own bed nets, only 48 percent use them, recently released statistics have revealed.  To date, 18 million nets have been distributed in Kenya, which has led to a 44 percent decline in malaria mortality for Kenya’s youth.
