HIV Patients Easy Prey to Tuberculosis

Health authorities in India’s Kanpur District were unable to reach their goal of detecting 70 percent of tuberculosis (TB) cases in 2009, due to a lack of coordination among various government hospitals in urban and rural areas. Once identified, authorities had hoped to get each person on TB treatment under India’s Revise National Tuberculosis Programme. TB control is especially important for India’s HIV positive population, as they are six times more susceptible to TB infection.
