Brazil now has the highest number of swine flu fatalities in the world, according to figures released by its health ministry Wednesday. With 557 fatalities, Brazil is now ahead of the United States’ latest count, released last week, of 522.
Despite this latest count, the Brazilian health ministry said infection rates seem to be diminishing. The ministry also said it is putting aside one billion dollars to purchase 73 million doses of vaccine when it becomes available.
