ART treatment saves lives but many patients are still excluded

For six years the Center for Treatment and Research on AIDS, Malaria, Tuberculosis and Other Epidemics (Trac Plus) has provided free antiretroviral drugs (ARVs) to over 70,000 Rwandan patients. Dr. Sabin Nsanzimana, coordinator for Care and Treatment at Trac Plus, said that antiretroviral therapies have brought hope to those infected with the disease.
There is still more work to be done to fight HIV in Rwanda. Currently, an estimated 180,000 to 200,000 Rwandans, including 3 percent of adults in that country are infected with HIV.
